Bill & Judy's Story
Judy lost her husband, Bill, to mesothelioma when he was just 63 years old. Bill was exposed to asbestos while working a summer job in a shipyard in Saint John, New Brunswick in the 1970’s. Bill and Judy are the founding lawyers at the law firm Morrow Morrow & Crosbie.
Bill passed away due to his diagnosis of mesothelioma in 2018. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, friend, and community supporter. He was also an excellent and accomplished lawyer advocating for his clients for almost 40 years prior to his death.
Bill was told, like so many other victims of asbestos exposure, that if he received Workers’ Compensation benefits, he could not pursue a claim against trust funds that asbestos manufacturers were required to set up to compensate victims of asbestos exposure.
Bill didn’t accept that and wanted to challenge that notion. He believed that people who were suffering from asbestos-related illnesses should be entitled to both. He also wanted to make sure that his Workers’ Compensation benefits were not jeopardized.
So, to fulfill his wish, Judy and the team at Morrow Morrow & Crosbie took it on in the province of New Brunswick and were successful. We are of the opinion that the same legal principle applies in other provinces in Canada, as well as in New Brunswick.
Just so we are clear, Bill and Judy received benefits through Workers’ Compensation AND through the US trust funds.
Judy and the team of legal professionals at Morrow Morrow & Crosbie want to put their years of legal experience, as well as Judy’s own personal experience, to work for you. She wants this to be her husband’s legacy – that we helped people from all over the country to get the additional funds to which we believe they are entitled.
